Despite the frequent downpours, hundreds of Alderley District Scouts turned out for the St George's Day parade and once again filled St Philip's & St James' to the brim for the annual service.
Over 300 beavers, cubs and scouts, along with their leaders, were led by the Alderley District Scout Band as they marched from the Chorley Hall Lane playing fields down London Road to the church.
The service was led by Rev. Jane Parry and supported by the Rev. Ben Clowes from Alderley Edge Methodist Church.
A group of Explorer Scouts also gave a presentaion about their experiences at the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden in 2011 and Mrs Janet Franks was presented with an Award for Merit in recognition of her services to scouting.
The District Commissioner, Steve Buckley, led the members in the renewal of their Promise and each member in the congregation was presented with a wooden coin. This was to be placed in their right hand pocket at the begining of the day and transferred to the left hand pocket when they had done their good deed for the day as per the Scout Promise.
