The Alderley Edge Hotel, home of the award-winning Alderley Restaurant, has launched a new eating experience.

The Brasserie was unveiled by General Manager Ahmet Kurcer last week, offering 'Retro Classic food with a slightly modern twist'.

Mr Kurcer said "I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of people who have come in to try the new Brasserie. They have been as delighted as I am with the design, lay-out and the relaxing ambience.

"They also seem to like the fact that we will be open throughout the day and evening, serving dishes at prices which will enable them to dine with us often. However, it was the Brasserie's menu that impressed them most."

Featuring many old favourites which, whilst retaining their identity, are given a modern twist by the team of innovative chefs.

Mr Kurcer added "The Scampi and Monkfish 'In a Basket' will bring back fond memories, as undoubtedly will Chicken Kiev, with Smokey bacon, Sautéed Greens and Mash.

"There are lots of exciting dishes to choose from priced from £2.50 up to £16.95 and to suit every appetite. Whether you just want a light snack or something more substantial you won't be disappointed.

Mr Kurcer added "Our first week has been an overwhelming success and I am looking forward to welcoming new customers to a style of eating that combines quality food with a very relaxed atmosphere. I am excited that here at The Alderley Edge Hotel we can now offer two very different dining experiences; The Brasserie for relaxed enjoyment and the 3 rosette Alderley restaurant for continued fine dining."

Along with colleagues from Alderley Edge Golf Club, I attended the Pannone event at the Brasserie last Wednesday. The room was buzzing with local businesses enjoying the new decor and atmosphere not to forget the very tasty 'flavour of the new menu' canapes - which really seemed to vanish off the serving platters very quickly!

Just seen the menu...how depressingly familiar it all is. If you are going to call the place a brasserie, why not buck the local trend and do what it says on the tin. Why not offer classic French Brasserie dishes? Escargots, fruits de mer, cassoulet, boudin noir, confit de canard etc. I personally think they've missed a trick here with open sandwiches and chicken kiev...they could have offered something completely different to all their competitors in the area and instead they have gone for "safe"...what a shame.
