Over 300 local school children visited St. Philip and St. James Church this week to enjoy an Easter Experience.
Children from Alderley Edge Community Primary School and Alderley Edge School for Girls attended sessions at the church which were held throughout the week.
Following an overview of the Easter story, the children were split into groups to visit six interactive stations where storytellers retold parts of the Easter story in more depth, followed by an activity and the opportunity for questions.
Linda Lonsdale, one of storytellers, explained "Each station is life size so the children could enter into the story. At Palm Sunday they wrote something about their hopes and dreams on stones, they sat and broke bread at the Last Supper and entered the garden of Gethsemane where they made something they would like for comfort if they felt alone out of plasticine, so we had dogs and cats as well as mobile phones and computers."
Mr Chris Perry, Headteacher at Alderley Edge Community Primary School, said "The children have really gained a lot from this experience and I would like to add my thanks to everyone who has organised and led this opportunity for our children. A great opportunity for learning from people in our community."
