An Alderley Edge resident is planning to spend Easter walking the Dales Way to raise funds for a cancer charity.
Shaun Bonner, 51, will set off on April 6th to complete the 80 mile trek over 6 days, from Ilkley to Bowness in the Lake District. He will be virtually unsupported, carrying all his kit and staying only one night in B&B accommodation.
Shaun said "I have been planning this for months but have not been able to communicate the trip due to an ankle problem which has dogged my preparation since November. However, I have decided to go for it, get fit on the trip and raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research."
This will be Shaun's third long distance walk. He started with Hadrian's Wall in 2010 and then completed the Great Glen Way last year.
His employer Barclays Bank will match donations up to £750, so he has set a target of raising £1500.
Shaun added "I have decided to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research because it is a little known charity and I would like to try to raise the profile of the organisation and hopefully raise the target amount."
Shaun has raised £450 so far. If you would like to sponsor him you can do so by visiting his fundraising page.
