Tree-mendous festival opens at Methodist church

The Christmas Tree Festival at Alderley Edge Methodist has opened today with a lunchtime concert featuring piano duo Dolby and Hughes.

Alderley Edge Methodist Church looks absolutely stunning, decorated with 54 Christmas trees of all different shapes, sizes and colours.

The trees have been contributed by local organisations, schools and businesses who have spent a great deal of time decorating them, with each tree telling something about their particular interest.

The 2011 Christmas Tree Festival, which is in aid of the Spire Appeal 'Time for the Future', is open until Sunday, 4th December.

A whole programme of events has been put together for the weekend, including a 'Spuds, Pops and Proms' event this evening, a concert by the award-winning Fodens Band on Saturday evening and tomorrow morning the Girlguiding Cheshire Border Campfire Circle will entertain with a selection of songs.

Visitors can call in anytime to view the stunning display and light refreshments and various stalls will be available until 3pm on Sunday when the Sale Salvation Army Band will lead carols round the trees - providing a fitting climax to the weekend.

For more information on the Alderley Edge Christmas Tree Festival see our events calendar or call the church Office on 01625 586713.
