Alderley Edge Methodist Church will be hosting their third Christmas Tree Festival next month.

Throughout the weekend the church will be filled with Christmas trees of all shapes and sizes, contributed by local organisations, schools and businesses.

The Christmas Tree Festival will be held from Friday 2nd December to Sunday 4th December to raise funds for the Church Spire Appeal.

Over fifty trees have already been booked and those taking part include Alderley Edge School for Girls, Alderley Edge and Bollin Valley Rotary Club, Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, several brownie and guide units, Over Alderley Reading Room, Alderley Edge Music Festival and a number of local shops.

Judy Povey, church secretary, said "The festival is a lovely thing to do for the village and a major fundraiser for our Spire Appeal. It is a weekend full of events surrounding a display of decorated Christmas trees filling the church."

The Festival will open at noon on Friday 2nd December, ahead of the Lunchtime Concert featuring Piano Duo, Dolby and Hughes. This will be followed by 'Spuds, Pops, and Proms' – a musical evening with performances from local school choirs and orchestras. During the interval a baked potato and pop cake supper will be available.

The Christmas Tree Festival will be open on the Saturday, from 10am until 4pm with stalls and refreshments available. During the day entertainment will be provided by the Girlguiding Cheshire Border Campfire Circle and the church music group 'Inspire'. The renowned and Fodens Band will fill the church on Saturday evening, sponsored by local company Power Engineering Consultants.

On Sunday, the last day of the Festival, the trees will be on display and refreshments and stalls will be available until 3pm, when the Sale Salvation Army Band will lead carols round the trees - providing a fitting climax to the weekend.
