Yesterday's episode of the ITV show 'There's No Taste Like Home' saw Rachael Grantham's dish awarded a coveted place on the menu at Grill on the Edge.

In April, Gino D'Acampo came to Alderley Edge to film an episode of his TV show which celebrates home cooks and their incredible family heritage dishes.

Alderley Edge residents Rachael Grantham and Christine Munro competed against Duncan Evans from Chester, serving up their home-cooked favourites, which have been passed down from generation to generation, to a packed restaurant of paying customers.

Each contestant prepared their historic family dishes. Rachael cooked 'Great Grandpa Percy's Wild Boar Ravouli', Christine cooked 'Grandma Ellen's Chicken Stew' and Duncan served up 'Grandpa Wild's Cheshire Pork Pie'.

Gino awarded Rachael's winning dish, which her Uncle Percy had been taught by an Italian family whilst based in Turin during the war, the honour of being added to the restaurant's menu for one month to prove There's No Taste Like Home.

Rachael, 22, who has worked in the Grantham's shop on Heyes Lane pretty much all her life, said "The dish to me just tells me family, it really does. It's something that we make as a family, we eat as a family, it really brings up memories of spending time with family and something that we can be proud of."

Rachael's Great Grandpa Percy's Wild Boar Ravouli' served on a bed of pancetta and fennel will be available at Grill on the Edge from today for one month.

Speaking about the experience she said "It was absolutely amazing, I was up against some stiff competition. I met two really lovely people, enjoyed every minute of it and I'm just proud. It wasn't just for me it was for my family and the family dish, I really couldn't be happier."

If you missed this episode of 'There's No Taste Like Home', shown on Thursday 20th October, you can catch it on ITV player.

I Knew Percy well from Mottram Club. He would be ever so proud that his special recipe had been passed down through the family and is still being cooked today. He often spoke about this dish, hunting wild boar on the edge and growing fennel in the garden. I must pop in the shop to catch up. Well done 'Granthams' for honouring Percy's Memory, you all must be so proud.
