Bupa Care Homes is investing £1m to create 12 new ensuite bedrooms for Brookview Nursing and Residential Home in Alderley Edge.

Bringing the total number of bedrooms at the care home to 62, the extension has been commissioned after Bupa identified a demand for high quality care in the area.

The investment will also create a number of new local jobs.

Vince Hart, regional manager for Bupa Care Homes, said,“Brookview already has a reputation for providing excellent care and is a very popular home. We are delighted to be in a position to offer additional high specification accommodation at the heart of the local community. Friends and relatives can be assured that residents will continue to receive the same excellent care that we deliver now.”

Research by Bupa has shown that the proportion of the population aged over 65 within a 5 mile radius of the care home is above the UK average (18.85% compared to 15.95%).

The proposed extension is three storeys high, with four ensuite bedrooms at each level, and will be built in the same style and in keeping with the current main building. Work is expected to be completed in March 2012.

Maureen Southern, home manager, added, “Our aim is to help residents maintain as much of their independence as possible whilst providing them with Bupa’s highest standards of care and service.

“This extension will allow us to provide a much-needed service to people throughout the area and we are very proud to be able to offer such first class bedrooms and facilities.”
