Time called on Royal Oak pub

The Royal Oak public house, which had been in existence for many years and was a prominent building on Heyes Lane, has now gone. When I went down at lunchtime today all that remained was a single wall.

The pub closed its doors in April and demolition of the building has been taking place over recent weeks - to clear the site for a new housing development.

Riverlodge Properties Ltd were granted planning permission (ref. 11/1111M) last month to build four semi-detached and one detached dwelling on the site.

Thanks to Nick Parr for kindly providing some photos of the building as it was being demolished.

... a crying shame to witness such a beautiful building brought to the ground (and so fast!) - so much history and so many happy memories - "time goes by and leaves many a why" but change is often good!!
