A local couple have won their dream wedding by entering a competition on Key 103 which involved the bride wearing a wedding dress for six days.
Lisa Nolan, from Twinnies Road in Wilmslow, embraced the spirit of the competition and set off for Alderley Edge on Saturday, April 9th, in her wedding dress where she was photographed as a shop mannequin, behind the bar and down the farm where she chased the chickens and snuggled up with the piglets.
All the pictures were posted online and Lisa finished third in the voting, but on Friday the four finalists came face to face in the final event. The brides had to race in canoes at Salford Quays Watersports Centre, the task was to row to a floating pontoon in the middle of the water, climb out and grab the bouquet of flowers. Lisa started in 3rd place, two seconds behind the voted leaders but she soon caught up to raise the flowers and win the competition.
Lisa and her fiancé Colin were interviewed for the Tonight Show and then went off for a champaign breakfast to celebrate.
Lisa, 25, and Colin, 45, met in 2004 when Lisa was working part time in a bar but it wasn't until April 2009 that they stated dating. Their prize is a dream wedding at the Saddleworth Hotel in Oldham and they are planning to marry on October 1st next year.
Lisa is ecstatic about winning the competition, she told me "Winning has given me an opportunity to plan like I never felt possible and because it's happening so much quicker than planned I won't have time to get stressed out with it all."
Colin added "It's been such an eye opening experience and we've had great support from our friends, family and the business owners in Alderley - even if we hadn't have won, it would have brought us closer together."
