Lavender Tree celebrates 10th anniversary

The Lavender Tree will be popping corks this weekend to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

The Brook Lane business, set in an old Victorian grocer's shop, was the founded in April 2001 by sisters Sarah McCall and Emma Bolton. Their inspiration for the shop came from their mother who died in 1998 of Ovarian Cancer.

The Lavender Tree is very much a family affair with their younger sister Cath working in the shop in her spare time and their dad helps out as well with all of the odd jobs that always need doing.

Emma told me "All of our expectations when we first opened the shop have been well and truly surpassed and we've had great support from our amazing staff who have helped us make the Lavender Tree what it is today."

The shop has doubled in size since it first opened and the ranges of furniture and accessories has expanded significantly. They also now offer an interior design service providing advice on soft furnishings, colours, space solutions, carpets and flooring.

Emma said "The shop is very much a 'Country Living' feel and we sell lots of gorgeous things for the home and for gifts. It is sometimes quite difficult to get across to people who haven't been in the shop before how big it is and all the ranges that we sell. But once they have seen for themselves they always come back.

"We have a very loyal customer base which is why we wanted to have a celebration to thank them all for supporting us over the years. So this Saturday the shop will be open as normal from 9.30 until 5pm and we will be serving fizz and cakes"

The Lavender Tree will also be having a prize draw and offering £10 off for 10 days when spending £50 or more.

Congratulations to Lavender Tree and all the staff.
Not only is this delightful family run shop a great asset to A/E, but Sarah and Emma have contributed enormously to our village life and community.
With thanks and best wishes for the next 10 years.
