The Flaming Lips will be headlining the first in a series of concerts to be held at Jodrell Bank this year.

The ground-breaking rock band, hailing from Oklahoma City, will perform their 'space-influenced' music in the shadow of the Lovell telescope, the third largest steerable radio telescope in the world that will also be used as a massive projection screen.

The Flaming Lips, famed for their elaborate live shows featuring costumes, puppets, video projections and frontman Wayne Coynes' rolling around in a man-sized bubble, have been named as one of the '50 Bands to See Before You Die' by Q Magazine.

Live from Jodrell Bank is a series of shows that will take place on weekends throughout the year, spanning all genres of music and featuring a selection of international and nationally renowned artists.

The Flaming Lips will perform live on Saturday, 2nd July, along with British Sea Power, OKGO and Alice Gold.

Tickets are available via the Jodrell Bank website, priced £35.
