Talented cellist and pianist to perform at lunchtime concert

The next lunchtime concert at Alderley Edge Methodist Church will take place on Wednesday 16th March at 1.00 pm.

The concert will feature Turkish cellist Huseyin Gundogdu who was born in Bulgaria in 1989. In 2009 he joined the Royal Northern College of Music where he currently studies with Emma Ferrand. Last year he performed the Elgar cello concerto in a public masterclass with Raphael Wallfisch which was held on Strings Day and he recently performed in the Sir John Barbirolli Cello Prize final in the RNCM Concert Hall.

Huseyein will be accompanied on the piano by Yasemin Rowe. From 2005, Yasmin boarded at Chetham's School of Music where she studied piano with Bernard Roberts and began taking lessons with Murray McLachlan.

In 2007, Yasmin was awarded the Ruth Hewitt entrance scholarship to the Royal Northern College of Music where she now studies piano with Murray McLachlan and was joint winner of the first-year piano prize. The following year, she was delighted to win the prestigious EPTA UK piano competition in May and the Moray International Piano Competition in November. In March of 2009, Yasmin also won first prize in the Sevenoaks Young Musician of the Year.

Admission to the concert is by programme which cost £3.50 and is available at the door. The performance will last approximately 45 minutes and light lunches will be served from 12 noon at an extra cost.
