The Drum and Monkey Bowling Club raised a record sum of £2,600 for East Cheshire Hospice at their annual Charity Bowling Competition.

At their AGM last week, the bowlers were thanked by Hospice trustee, Sean Martin who gave an informative talk about the hospice's work and their dependence upon fundraising. These funds were further boosted this year by donations from The Emerson Foundation, Astra Zeneca and Argos.

Kate Barraclough said "It was an extremely successful day both as a local event and as a fund raiser. The club members had voted to support East Cheshire Hospice this year as a deserving local charity.

"Sixty four bowlers from several counties competed for the £300 prize money and even those bowlers who were out after the first round stayed on to soak up the atmosphere."

The Drum and Monkey Ladies are looking for bowlers for their team. Whether you are an experienced bowler or would just like to learn to play, please email Kate Barraclough [email protected] or call her on 01625 583897.
