Vicar swaps places with pub landlord

Have you heard the one about the Vicar and the Pub Landlord...

...well if you haven't make a note on Wednesday 3rd November in your diary as I and Andy Baron, General Manager of the De Trafford, are doing a job swap!

Have you ever wished that you could switch places with someone else... even for a short time? Does the grass always seem greener on the other side and it would just be easier if you could have someone else's job?

To walk a mile in someone else's shoes is interesting and challenging... what would it be like to be a premier footballer, a millionaire, a hairdresser, a traffic warden – a vicar ?

What are the demands and delights of hotel management and other occupations?

Andy will be at morning prayers, that day, taking school assembly, visiting in the parish and helping at the monthly parish lunch. Then I shall be going behind the bar of the De Trafford trying not to impair their computer system whilst endeavoring to serve the customers properly!

And what of the outcome? To get a better understanding of each other's joys and challenges... a place where church and community can connect...an opportunity to strengthen links within the community... to break down barriers between professions and businesses...and to have fun!

I am sure that on Thursday 4th November we shall happily settle back into our own occupations, but hopefully we will both have learnt and experienced something of what it is like to work in another sphere...

...and although we may 'walk' in each other's shoes, of course I shan't expect Andy to wear my 4" high heels...!
