Chris Welton, who is continuing with Chafes Solicitors for a further 12 months in a business development role, has been re-elected to the national Law Society Council as the representative for Manchester, Salford, Stockport and District. Chris, who is based at the firm’s Alderley Edge office, will represent all solicitors in the local area on a national level.

Chris has been appointed by the Law Society of England and Wales, the membership body for all solicitors in the country. The role involves working with all of the local law societies in the region and he will report back at Law Society Council meetings.

Speaking about his re-appointment Chris says: “This is a great opportunity for me to continue to play an active role in ensuring that the achievements and issues faced by solicitors in the region are communicated with the Law Society in London.

“Since opening Chafes’ Alderley Edge office as a partner in 1973 I have seen the legal profession go through many changes. I look forward to continuing my association with Chafes whilst undertaking my duties as a law society representative.
