A specialist animal rescue team was called when a pony got stuck in a bog in its field off Foden Lane on Wednesday 21st May.
One fire engine from Wilmslow, one from Knutsford and an animal rescue team from Bollington arrived at 9.35pm to discover a 13-year-old, named Olaf, was stuck up to his neck in a muddy area and couldn't get out.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire & Rescue said "A vet was called to sedate him while crews worked on a plan to release him safely from his muddy entrapment."
The teams were in attendance for approximately two hours.
