Celebrations, smiles and parental pride filled The King's School's main hall on A Level results day.
As an A Level cohort, King's School students bucked the national trend to earn record results. For the first year since 2019, nationwide results showed a small decline but at the top Macclesfield school it was yet another bumper, record-breaking year with the best results since 2016.
A stunning 48% of all grades were at A*/A, with 81% of grades at A* - B. A fabulous five students achieved three A*s, while more than a third of students achieved an A* in one or more subjects. The results confirm King's place in the Top 10 of North West independent schools for academic results in the influential Sunday Times league tables.
Amongst the students achieving outstanding results are some of Wilmslow and Alderley Edge's young people. Edward Reynolds, got two A*s in Maths and Geography with an A grade in Politics and will now read Geography at Durham University. Noah Wolstenholme, got a Distinction in his Business with two C grades in Psychology and Design Technology. King's Head, Jason Slack, was delighted with the results and paid tribute to the students' work ethic and commitment: "I'm absolutely thrilled with this tremendous set of A level results which show a continued upward trend for results year on year. Our school aim of 'challenging pupils to aspire, work hard and achieve' is well represented by this determined and talented group of young people. They have contributed to our holistic approach to education by developing broader skills such as leadership, resilience and independence. Their talents extend well beyond the classroom into the extra-curricular arenas of music, sport and drama, with several students gaining international representation in areas such as netball and rugby. I couldn't be more proud of them."
