Latest figures show recorded crime in local area falls 11%

New figures released by Cheshire Constabulary show that Wilmslow, Styal, Prestbury, Handforth and Alderley Edge saw a 11% reduction in the number of recorded crimes between January and March 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

During the first three months of the year, t total of 18,851 crimes were recorded, down by 11%, and 51,555 incidents created, down 4%. Whilst 5,163 arrests were made, down 4%, domestic abuse action taken was 21%, up by 1% and sexual offences overall action taken stayed the same at 24%.

The average time taken to answer non-emergency calls was 3 minutes and 51 seconds, compared to over 5 minutes and 50 seconds in the same period last year.

93% of emergency incidents were attended in 15 minutes, up 1% and 89% of prompt incidents were attended in 60 minutes which stayed the same.

The average time taken to arrive at an emergency incident fell from 8 minutes to 7 minutes and 52 seconds between January and March 2024.
