As many residents will have noticed from their new Council Tax bill, Alderley Edge Parish Council has reduced the precept for the next financial year.by 6.5%.

Councillors decided to decrease the precept, the part of your council tax which is charged by the Parish Council, for 2024/25.

Last year (2023/24) the charge for a Band D property was £68.85. This has been reduced by £4.47 for the forthcoming financial year to £64.38 for a Band D property.

Rachael Grantham, Chair of Alderley Edge Parish Council said "The Festival Hall is a significant asset to our village. Over the last ten years, the facility has transformed from a
venue that ran at a cost to the taxpayer to a vibrant venue that not only benefits residents but is also no longer a financial burden on them.

"This, coupled with careful management of council funds, allows us to reduce the precept in April of this year. The contribution each taxpayer makes to the parish council will be reduced for the first time in over a decade. We are delighted to have achieved this in such a challenging economic climate."
