A keen cyclist from Alderley Edge is preparing to cycle 700km in 7 days to celebrate his 70th birthday and raise some money for Amnesty.
Vin Sumner will be undertaking his challenge in June when he will be joined by a couple of friends with others expected to join in for a day or few hours.
Setting off from London Road on Sunday 30th June, Vin will be cycling through Shrewsbury, Chester, Wirral , Liverpool, Southport, Preston, Blackpool, Lancaster , Settle, Skipton, Otley, Wetherby, Hebden Bridge, Holmfirth, Glossop, Buxton and Macclesfield before arriving back in Alderley Edge early evening on Saturday 6th July.
He told alderleyedge.com "I am taking on the challenge as I wanted to do something for 70th, I enjoy cycling and I wanted a real challenge, plus one that others could join in. The first bit is quite flat, the second half is very hilly."
Vin is raising money for Amnesty as "it is a charity I have always admired, supporting people against oppression and today's challenging times highlight the need."
His initial target was £1,000 but he has already raised £1100 so is hoping he might reach £2000.
