George Osborne ambushed by Rory Bremner in Alderley Edge

As you will all be aware, unless you've been on a different planet recently, the 2010 General Election took place on Thursday, May 6th. Whilst we were waiting for the Tatton result at Macclesfield Leisure Centre on Thursday evening I caught up with all the candidates to ask them how they felt their campaigns had gone and how confident they were about the result.

George Osborne told me that whilst this campaign had been different to his previous two, because he had spent more time doing national things, he did say he had particularly enjoyed both the Wilmslow and Knutsford debates as well as campaigning on the streets of Alderley Edge and Wilmslow.

Our Tatton MP then went on to tell me an amusing story about being ambushed by Rory Bremner dressed as William Hague in Alderley Edge, whilst campaigning on Saturday 17th April.

Whilst I knew George Osborne was going on a walkabout on London Road the ambush was news to me, as we'd been away that weekend, so George Osborne used my laptop to find the relevant episode of Bremner, Bird and Fortune:The Daily Wind Up, which was shown on Channel 4 last Sunday, May 2nd.

If you missed this show, you can view it on Channel 4's website for the next 26 days. Select Series 1, Episode 1 and slide the time bar to 16 minutes to see George Osborne joined by his "old mucker" William Hague, and you might also recognise a few locals, including Councillor Frank Keegan.
