King's School trampolinists have won a series of National Champion titles at the British Schools' Trampoline Finals. With divisions for elite, intermediate and novice athletes to reflect experience, King's shone in all categories.
Under the expert and enthusiastic tutelage of coach Rachael Burrows, 49 young men and women from the top Macclesfield school hit the heights. Rachael said: "Originally 4,000 contestants entered the competition so to make the last 650 for the national finals is an outstanding achievement in itself. Our athletes were incredible, not only in their performance but in their professional attitude and support of one another and myself as coach."
King's won the National Team title in the strongest category of Year 10-14 Elite girls with pupils Izzy Hammond, Leah Shadwell, Lottie Clark and Millie Crummack. Izzy was 10th in Britain, up against the best of the best.
Rachael added: "This has been a truly perfect ending for the girls in Year 13 and reward their hard work and dedication to King's trampolining." Jess Burton who has also competed for an amazing 12 years for King's placed 2nd with her team in the 10-14 intermediate category.
The Year 7-8 Novice Boys team also achieved National Champions. The team of Harry Irving, Tom Heseltine, Christopher Fuchs and James Heald smashed this category, winning it with a huge score, while James also won the national individual title in the Year 7-8 Novice Boys and Christopher placed 4th.
The Year 10-14 Novice Boys had an incredible competition, coming back from numerous injuries and obstacles to win the national title with Otis Hughes placed 7th despite a back injury. The team is Otis Hughes, Ben Kay, Joe Bailey Heald and Callum Richardson.
The Year 9-10 Novice Boys, who are all new to competing, produced their best performances winning the team national title. The team is Kaan Kafeescioglu, Ed Hammond and Alfie Usher with Alfie placed 6th and Kaan 7th individually.
The Year 10-14 Intermediate Girls took the National Silver Medals in a highly competitive section. The team is Alice Jordan, Sophie Clegg, Jess Burton and Iona Whaley.
The 11-14 Novice Girls also achieved National Silver Medals, with beautiful performances from Emily Burton who also placed 5th individually, Sophia Calderwood, Samantha Morrison and Ellie Shaw.
The Year 7-8 Novice Girls was the biggest category with King's fielding two teams. Kings A placed 8th and Kings B placed 5th with Connie O'Doherty placed 11th individually and Izzy Challinor 15th. Kings A team is Alana Craven, Sophia Kong, Mimi Tattum and Connie O'Doherty. Kings B team is Izzy Challinor, Poppy Hood, Maisie Sinclair and Claudia Williams.
The 7-9 Elite Girls have really worked hard to improve and were rewarded with National Silver medals: the team is Lottie Baxter, Lauren Whaley, Lucy Clegg, and Olivia Morris.
The Year 7-9 Intermediate Girls were a very high standard this year and the King's team just missed podium 3rd place by 0.25. They placed 4th and have worked very hard again to improve height, execution, and difficulty. The team is Elissia Smith, Charlotte Grant, Lacey Quinn, and Mimi Ross.
At the younger age range for primary school pupils, the Year 1-6 Novice Boys placed 6th with some very young competitors and Jago Lewis placing 11th individually. The team is Jago Lewis, Saxon Lewis, and Henry Conibre.
The Year 1-6 novice girls won National Silver Medals, just being pipped to 1st place. The team is Daisy Franks, Leila Chown, Eliana Hume, and Elizabeth Phillips.
