Following their summer break, Alderley Edge Methodist Church are resuming their regular Saturday Coffee Mornings, which run from 10 am until 12 noon, along with the monthly piano recitals which will take place on the first Saturday of the month at 11am.

The first of these concerts takes place this coming Saturday, 3rd September, and will feature performances by Callum and Matthew McLachlan along with their father Murray McLachlan. They will be performing pieces by Haydn, Chopin, Grieg and Edward Gregson.

Murray McLachlan is known as the founder of Chetham's International Piano Summer School, which after 21 very successful years took a sabbatical this year whilst Murray and his wife Kathryn Page participated in international festivals and workshops in Poland, Paris, Turkey, Israel, Italy and New York.

Callum was a finalist at the 18th International Robert Schumann Competition Zwickau, and reached the semi-final stage of the Santander International Piano Competition, while Matthew will be fondly remembered as the soloist for Alderley Edge Symphony Orchestra during the 21-22 season.

Jean Walker said "We are truly privileged to be working with such an amazingly talented family."

Jean added "We may take our coffee into the sanctuary to listen to the recital or simply enjoy it as background music to the coffee morning. The options are open and informality is the order of the day."

There is no admission charge for these recitals, but donations would be welcome.
