Firefighters pull through the rain for charity

Wilmslow firefighters pulled a vintage fire engine 3km from Alderley Edge to Wilmslow on Saturday, 21st August, to raise money for their charity.

A team of 12 firefighters from Delta Watch set off from Alderley Edge station then travelled down Wilmslow Road and Alderley Road before turning into Swan Street finishing at Bank Square.

On-Call Crew Manager Ian Moore said "The day started off a little wet but luckily the rain eased off for us. We received great support from passers-by all the way through to the finish.

"There were a couple of moments which we found tough (Kings Arms roundabout) but we dug deep and pulled through."

Wilmslow Artisan Market also took place on Saturday, where the firefighters had a 'dunk the firefighter' tank and a treasure hunt using Whats3Words app which they hoped raised awareness on how useful this app can be in an emergency situation.

Ian Moore added "Thank you to everyone who made the day possible, to all the local businesses who donated great prizes for the treasure hunt and to the media for helping us advertise! Obviously a massive thank you to everyone who donated."

The team have currently raised £1400 for the Firefighters Charity. The just giving page is still open should you wish to support their efforts https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ian-moore86."
