Councillors discuss topless barmaids and parade development

Several members have requested that we include dates for the Alderley Edge Parish Council meetings on alderleyedge.com so these have now been added to our events calendar.

The Parish Council meetings take place on a monthly basis, with the exception of August, and they are usually followed by a General Purposes Committee meeting and a Plans Committee meeting, during which planning applications are considered. On a quarterly basis there is also a Finance Committee meeting.

All meetings are open to the public so local residents are very welcome to attend. They are held in the Council Chamber at Festival Hall on Talbot Road and commence at 7.30pm.

According to the minutes of this month's meeting topless barmaids are reported to have been employed at the Royal Oak public house on Heyes Lane, which is a breach of their current license. According to their Facebook page a Gentleman's Evening was held on February 1st featuring lapdancers and topless barmaids.

Commenting on this issue Paul Tomlinson, Chairman of Alderley Edge Parish Council said "I believe if they applied for an adult license the Parish Council would oppose it being granted."

The minutes also state that any development of The Parade seems unlikely in the near future, given the Co-op have taken a lease until at least 2016 and staff at Tesco’s are apparently continuing to abuse the loading bay outside the new shop by placing cones to stop others from parking there.

It was agreed that the proper use of the bay should be enforced and it was reported that a plot of land along Heyes Lane, near The Circuit, which was owned by United Utilities has recently been auctioned. Concern was raised over who the new owner was and what was planned for the site.

Attached is a copy of the minutes of the General Purposes Committee meeting which was held on Monday 8th March. The next Parish Council meeting will be on Monday April 12th followed by the Parish Council Annual Meeting on May 10th.

Well done Lisa for publishing this information, any idea of how these regulations are going to be enforced?

I am afraid I don't Brian though the minutes do indicate when the Parish Council are going to inform the police.

We are sharing this information because it has been requested of us by some members and because we feel it is useful for the local community to understand what issues are being addressed by the Parish Council.

Any questions/concerns as a result of the minutes can then be addressed with the Parish Council or shared via alderleyedge.com - the Parish Council can then hopefully use this community portal to pick up on any issues and opinions raised by local residents.
