Villagers pays their respects to the fallen

A scaled-back event took place at Alderley Edge War Memorial this morning (Wednesday,11th November) to honour the fallen on Armistice Day.

Representatives from the Royal British Legion, Cheshire Police, Cheshire East Council and Alderley Edge Parish Council along with Reverend Robin Pye and Reverend Loveday Alexander gathered at the Cenotaph for the ceremony.

They were joined by a member of the Queens Own Yeomanry who acted as a wreath carrier for the socially distanced event, during which Reverend Robin Pye led prayers and Councillor Mike Dudley-Jones read the 104 names of those who sadly lost their lives.

This was followed by a two-minute silence in memory of those lost or injured in conflicts around the world and wreaths were laid at the Cenotaph.
