On Wednesday 10 March, Alderley Edge School for Girls participated in a Caribbean Day to help raise funds for the Haiti appeal.

The girls took part in a non uniform day, donated used story books to sell and made freshly baked cakes to sell on the day. The total raised so far is £1275.40, this included a cake which was auctioned for £110.

There was a mixture of vocal and instrumental solos, and group performances from Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Peter Hook, the bass guitarist from Freebass and formerly New Order and Joy Division accompanied the school orchestra in a performance of 'Love Will Tear us Apart’.

Lawrence Groves, Headmaster of the Junior School commented, "The girls were all very excited about the prospect of this charity event and performing to their school friends and parents. We would like to thank all the girls who participated and parents who took the time to attend and helped to make the day such a success.

"We are hoping to organise a summer concert but our next musical display will be at our Junior School Open Day on Saturday 20th March from 10.00am - 12.00 noon which we encourage anyone interested in knowing more about the school to attend".

We have now raised £1389 for Haiti. I am extremely proud of our children parents and staff for all their hard work and efforts on the day.

In particular we could not have done this without the support of a very hard working body of parent helpers on the day.
