Alderley Edge Parish Council are inviting local businesses to a meeting next week to introduce businesses to the Neighbourhood Plan, discuss some of their priorities and develop their ideas to support the local economy over the next few years.
Neighbourhood Plans allow communities to say what they want their priorities to be over the next 15 years and once completed they have the power of the law.
The themes selected for the Alderley Edge Neighbourhood Plan are: Managing Housing and Development; Protecting Green Spaces; Preserving Heritage and Character; Improving Infrastructure; Promoting Community Wellbeing and Supporting the Local Economy.
Cllr Rachael Grantham, who also helps run a business on Heyes Lane explained "This will be an important opportunity for local groups and organisations including business to feed into the policies and priorities of the Neighbourhood Plan.
"There is already a working group looking at Parking & Infrastructure, so whilst there will clearly be an overlap it is important we use this meeting to discuss the other issues facing local businesses and how they should be addressed. For example, encouraging visitors to village, loyalty schemes and making shopping in Alderley Edge more attractive."
"The Parish Council are very keen to listen and respond to the needs and interests of businesses in the village. As part of this, we will be creating a business mailing list and any business that wishes to be updated and are unable to attend the meeting, should email me."
Cllr Craig Browne added "We are very keen to improve links with the businesses; however, we also recognise that they have limited time to commit outside of the working day but would like to encourage as many businesses as possible to attend."
The meeting will take place at the Festival Hall on Thursday 6th July starting at 6pm.
