The program for this year's Alderley Edge Village Show is now available, giving people plenty of time to grow or create their entries.

The Alderley Edge Village Show, which has been a part of the village calendar for the past 76 years, is organised by the Alderley Edge Allotments and Gardens Society. this year's event has moved from August to September and will take place at the Festival Hall on Saturday 9th of September.

The competitive show aims to promote and encourage interest in horticulture and crafts for all ages. It is open to everyone, offering the chance for local people to enter their flowers, vegetables, fruit, cakes, photographs or works of art.

Both adults and children can also compete in the Village Competition which includes best scarecrow, a miniature garden in a tray and the best shed.

All the classes have been reviewed this year so its important that entrants check the show programme before entering.

Fenton Simpson, Chairman of Alderley Edge Allotments and Gardens Society, said "We are hoping to get more people to enter from the village and surrounding areas as the village show is not just about the allotment people. We want the whole village to take part in some way.

"We also want to see more children's entries. After a successful seed sowing morning in the library in April, I hope we see more entries from this age group."

More details are available in the show programme, together with the entry form. Copies are available in Alderley Edge Library and other shops and businesses in the village.

Refreshments, including a selection of homemade cakes, will be served during the show and there will be the opportunity to win prizes donated by local businesses in the raffle.

Entrance is 30p per class and entry forms must be received no later than Wednesday 6th September.

The Alderley Edge Village Show will take place at the Festival Hall on Saturday 9th September . Doors open at 12 noon, the awards and trophies will be handed out at 3.30pm.

Admission to the show is £1 for adults and 50p for children.
