Questionnaires have recently been delivered to every household in Alderley Edge as part of the Neighbourhood Plan process, however to date only around 100 have been returned completed.
Neighbourhood Plans allow communities to say what they want their priorities to be over the next 15 years and once completed they have the power of the law. Planning Officers will refer to Neighbourhood Plans when considering planning applications for new developments in and around the village, which means they can have a real and positive impact on the village's future.
As a crucial part of the Neighbourhood Plan process, local residents are being asked their views on what aspects of living in Alderley Edge are important, where new houses should be built in the village and what type of new housing is needed. The questionnaire also asks for views on car parking, transportation, local facilities and improvements to the village centre.
The answers from the survey will form an important part of the data being collected for the preparation of the Alderley Edge Neighbourhood Plan, which once complete everyone in the village will be able to vote on through a referendum.
The deadline for completing the Alderley Edge Neighbourhood Plan Questionnaire Thursday 30th March and councillors are hoping they receive a surge of responses during this final week.
Councillor Christine Munro said "I know people put it aside and think they will do it later. but it is so important, please do it know. Without our Neighbourhood Plan we don't have a say in the future of our village. It is a legal document which Cheshire East have to consider when they are looking at planning applications.
"Alderley Edge is a beautiful place to live. Lets make sure it remains that way."
Councillor Mike Dudley-Jones added "If you choose not to respond -and sadly many will – it is no good getting angry in the future when life in Alderley Edge as you know it - or wanted it - has changed beyond recognition. It will be too late to be heard!
"So please spend a few minutes completing this vital document. It will help us to make a difference in the future and it will help us keep Alderley Edge as a magic place to live. That has to be worth a few minutes of your time, surely?"
In addition to the paper version, the Alderley Edge Neighbourhood Plan Questionnaire is available to be completed online.

Here's what readers have had to say so far. Why not add your thoughts below.
Please mention on your downloaded form that you DID NOT receive a copy through the door and please let us know your address so we can investigate more accurately and ensure that it does not happen again in future deliveries.
Once again my apologies.
If that means we have to extend the deadline for those who inform us of their plight then we are happy to do that as the information we seek is of great importance to us all.
What should be a concern to everyone in Alderley Edge is that less than 200 questionnaires have so far been returned out of 2600 delivered. Unless the response improves significantly it will make the process of neighbourhood planning much more complicated than it needs to be and could result in trying to establish a Plan that only represents a fraction of the residents in our Village.
As a result the future look and make up of our Village might change beyond all recognition and to arrest that change will be well nigh impossible.
Please let us know what your thoughts for our future are.
