Primary school enjoys a right Royal party

The PTA at Alderley Edge Community Primary School put on a fantastic street party in celebration of HM Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday.

Children from the school and pre-school joined in the celebrations today (Friday, 17th June), which kicked-off with the children and parents standing and singing God Save the Queen and finished with the children singing (and signing) Happy Birthday to Her Majesty.

The children dressed up in costumes representing decades from the 1960s to the present day and each year group sang a song from their decade, which included everything from the Eye of the Tiger to Spice Up your Life.

Finally, the PTA presented every child with a commemorative book mark to take home.

Thankfully, the weather was perfect and the whole event was a great success.

Headteacher Chris Perry said, "Everyone got in to the spirit of the event including staff who all dressed in costumes from anything from the 1960s to the present day – including myself!! It was great to have a traditional street party and my thanks goes to all the parents and the staff who helped make it happen – a memorable and enjoyable day."
