Crooks smash into supermarket but leave empty handed

Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves attempted to steal from an ATM machine at a supermarket in Alderley Edge.

At around 3.10am on Monday, 29th February, four men smashed their way through a window of Waitrose.

The four men, who were wearing dark clothing and face coverings, then attempted to break into the cash machine but the men fled empty handed.

DI Simon Mills said: "The men would have made quite a racket as they smashed the window and tried to break into the machine so someone may have been alerted to this and saw a group of men in the area or leaving in a car. I would ask anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area, or who has any information, to contact us."

They left without taking anything.

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 80 of 29 February 2016.
