In Pictures: Church lit up for Christmas tree festival

The 6th Alderley Edge Christmas Tree Festival opened today at The Methodist Church.

The church looks absolutely stunning, decorated with 52 Christmas trees of all different shapes, sizes and colours.

The trees have been donated by local organisations, schools and businesses who have put a great deal of effort into decorating them in a theme personal to them.

The 2014 Christmas Tree Festival is open until Sunday, 7th December.

Judy Povey, church secretary, said "We have got 52 trees and they all seem to be even bigger and better this year and more innovative. They are wonderfully creative displays."

A programme of events has been put together for the weekend, including a Christingle Service this evening from 6pm to 7pm, in aid of The Children's Society.

On Saturday afternoon Chelford Hand Bell Ringers will perform at 2pm and on Sunday afternoon there will be a concert featuring Vox Musica. The singers from the Halle Orchestra will perform carols and seasonal music as the final event of the 6th Alderley Edge Christmas Tree Festival, starting at 3pm. Proceeds from this concert will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK

Visitors can view the beautiful display of trees, enjoy light refreshments and browse a selection of stalls.

Judy Povey added "What is fantastic it how the community gets behind it."

Entrance to the Festival is for a recommended donation £2 with no charge for children under 12. Admission to the concert is £5. Tickets are available from the Church Office on 01625 586713 or email [email protected]
