During September and October 61 professional contemporary artists will open their studios to the public for Cheshire Open Studios (COS). This event is a unique chance to meet artists, to discover how and where they produce their work and buy from them directly.

The county has been divided into four areas giving you the opportunity to visit several local studios in one day. During the third weekend of COS on the 26th & 27th of September 17 artists from the Wilmslow, Knutsford and Macclesfield areas will be opening their doors.

These include alderleyedge.com member Yvonne Phillips, who is based at Capesthorne and will be taking part in COS for the first time. Yvonne produces spontaneous, colourful and textured abstract landscape paintings and photography with an emotional and dramatic sensivity (pictured above).

During the same weekend six artists from Wilmslow will also be opening their studios. Painter and printmaker Julie Allen whose work is influenced by traditional Indian textiles, Gary Olson who is a designer and maker of high quality hand-made furniture and Lynn Allaby who produces a broad range of products including personalised baby name pictures, celebration caricature scrolls, giclee and canvas art prints as well as commissioned art.

Textile artist Jane White combines handweave, crochet, knitting and natural materials to make eco-friendly pieces, Rosemary Graham who creates richly colourful vibrant pieces with an emphasis on the magic of life and finally Sue Crossfield whose handbuilt, sculptured ceramics are inspired by marine imagery, natural forms and female figures.
