New flag for St Philip & St James Church

Children from Alderley Edge Community Primary School attended the Harvest Sunday Service on Sunday, 12th October.

The school choir sang special harvest pieces with the church choir and then sang their own "Fields of Gold", which was beautiful.

A representative from Hampers for Hope explained where the food the congregation had collected goes and how they help with day to day problems too, such as debt counselling, household budgets and cookery lessons.

After the service Claudia and Lucas, who were chosen to represent the school, helped Revd Jane Parry to raise a flag on the new flagpole outside the church.

Mandy Parr said "The Church of England flag (also known as St George's Cross) includes the Chester Diocesan coat of arms. Members of the Parish donated the flag and flagpole and, some weeks ago, dug the foundation hole and then with some trepidation, erected the flagpole. Foundation concrete was very kindly given, mixed and poured by Richard Hadfield of Core Construction Ltd."
