World renowned organist Bridget de Moura Castro (nee Unna) will be performing a recital at St Philips Church to celebrate 750 years of organ playing (death of Henry Purcell 350 years ago, death of Franz Joseph Haydn 200 years ago and the birth of Felix Menelssohn 200 years ago).

Bridget was a pupil at St Hilarys and has fond memories of St Philips - singing in the choir and listening to the organ all those years ago. She keeps a painting of St Philips interior in her studio in Connecticut.

During the past 3 years Bridget has lectured and given recitals worldwide from Japan to Mexico. It was in Brazil she met her husband Luiz de Moura Castro, equally famous in the music world.

Rev Jane Parry is delighted to welcome Bridget back and is looking forward to her recital which will include pieces from the above composers. Everyone is welcome. The recital starts at 11.30am (after morning service) for an hour on Sunday 9th August 2009.
