Shoplifters target Alderley Edge

supermarkets

Alderley Edge continues to be targeted by shoplifters working in teams and primarily concentrating their efforts on expensive bottles of alcohol.

Inspector Sue Mills said "One team of Eastern European males and females have committed at least two offences and focus their efforts on small supermarkets.

"We ask all residents to report any suspicious activity promptly by calling 999 if a crime is in progress or 101 if the call is less urgent."

Inspector Mills added "Wilmslow police have a good relationship with local retail businesses and PCSO Newns regularly visits premises whilst on foot patrol which helps reduce crime and helps reassure those shopping and working at the retail business."

Same everywhere, Adrian. I live in Luton, and haven't seen a proper copper on foot patrol in years. It used to be a real deterrent.
