The Alderley Edge May Fair celebrations are kicking off with a four mile race the evening before the main event.

The four mile run is being organised by Running Bear and starts at 7pm on Friday, 16th May.

Runners will set off from the band stand in the park and head out along Chorley Hall Lane, down Blackshaw Lane then across the fields towards Pearson's tomato farm. They will then run along a stretch of the footpath adjacent to Alderley Edge bypass and back to the finishline at the band stand.

The event will be fully marshalled, the race is limited to 150 runners and there is a minimum age of 16.

Nick Bishop said "On the night there will be a live band and a beer tent within the park so it should be a fun atmosphere.

He added "We would like to encourage local residents to run, but suggest that they enter early. There may be some entries on the night but subject to the race entry limit not being reached."

Entrance is £5 for club members, £7 for non-club runners and £1 extra on night if race entry is not reached. Click here to download the entry form.
