Green fingered set to show fruits of their labour

The 72nd Alderley Edge Allotments and Garden Society show returns to the Methodist Church hall this month.

The competitive show will feature 118 classes covering a broad range of interests and offers a great opportunity to meet a wide variety of fellow exhibitors and visitors in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

In addition to catering for gardeners and vegetable growers there are classes covering floral art, cookery, photography, domestic crafts and painting. There are also classes for newcomers and children including garden flowers, cakes and biscuits, painting, drawing and craft work.

The Alderley Edge Allotments and Garden Society show will be held on Saturday 31st August at Alderley Edge Methodist Church from noon until 4.45pm. Entrance is £1 for adults and free for children. Refreshments will be served throughout the day, prizes will be awarded at 4.15pm and a raffle draw will take place at 4.40pm.

John Sanderson, Chairman of Alderley Edge Allotments and Gardens Society, said "It has been a good growing year and we are expecting to see some excellent produce. Anyone can exhibit. It is an open show."

You can download the schedule of classes and entry form here. The entry fee for all classes is 40p for the first 20 entries and free thereafter. All children's classes are free. Entries must be to submitted by Wednesday, 28th August.

The show aims to bring the community together and to promote and foster local interest in horticulture and crafts. It is open to everyone wherever they live and whether an allotment holders or a private gardener.

Admission to the show is £1, children free.
