Flag stolen from Edge Hockey Centre

Thieves have struck at The Edge Hockey Centre on Wilmslow Road.

Alderley Edge Hockey Club Community Coach, Kelvin Briggs turned up to run a weekly coaching session this morning (Sunday 21st July) to discover one of the Club's flags worth £150 had been stolen.

Kelvin Briggs said "I am gutted to have one of our flags stolen. It looks like some people had a party here last night with Budweiser bottles littered around by trespassers. I donated four flags to Club when we opened the pitch in October 2011 worth £600 and now we are down to three.

"This is a private playing filed but some people seem to think its a public park. We may need to extend our CCTV at the facility to identify those intent on tresspass and theft."

Kelvin is offering a reward for the return of the flag and information leading to a prosecution.

If you have any information about this incident please contact Wilmslow Police on 101, quoting reference 0713203530.

Really good news to let you know the flag has been discreetly returned to us. I found it Wednesday morning lying just outside the fence at the north end of the pitch close to the woods.
Perhaps the culprit had a conscience after all.
Many thanks to the police who gave me good advice about using social media to highlight the theft.
Great that Alderleyedge.com wrote about the incident.
We will be locking away the flags at night in future to remove temptation.
Another good piece of news this week has been our Men's summer league team winning the prestigious Bowdon summer league. Now we start men's training next Wednesday at 7 pm next Wednesday and happily with our flags flying high!
