Burglars are taking advantage of the warmer weather and targeting homes where residents have left their windows open or unlocked.
Over the last few days there have been three burglaries reported in the Wilmslow, Mobberley and Prestbury areas where offenders have entered premises through insecure ground level windows in order to obtain car keys and steal high performance cars from the driveway.
Police are urging residents to lock their windows during the evening and during the day if you are going out, even if only for a short period of time, to avoid presenting thieves with easy opportunities to commit crimes.
Chief Inspector Paul Carroll from Cheshire Police Eastern Division said "During this warmer weather when doors and windows have been open during the day it is important that they are closed and locked in the evening before people retire to bed. Thieves are opportunistic and will be attracted to openings which will make their task easier."
