Fire and rescue crews were called to a house fire on Moss Road this afternoon.

Householders called emergency services at 1.11pm.

The fire was confirmed to be in the roof space of the detached property and had vented through the roof.

Initially one fire engine from Wilmslow and one from Macclesfield attended but when they assessed the incident they requested two more fire engines to attend, so one from Knutsford and one from Cheadle were called.

Two firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet and two main jets to extinguish the blaze.

Gas and electricity supplies were isolated and the police were called to close the road while the fire and rescue crews tackled the fire.

Two fire and rescue crews remain at the scene stripping the roof and salvaging property from the first floor and the road remains closed.

Crews are expected to remain at the property for another half an hour, damping down the area and checking there are no further hotspots of fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, a fire investigation will be carried out.

There were no injuries or need for anybody to be treated for smoke inhalation.
