Conmen target motorists with jewellery scam

Cheshire Police are urging motorists to be vigilant following reports of scams on roads across Cheshire.

Offenders, described as foreign nationals, are flagging drivers down and claiming to have run out of petrol. They then offer the drivers who stop gold jewellery in exchange for cash to buy petrol at a nearby station.

The conmen are believed to be Asian or Eastern European and the 'gold' jewellery subsequently turns out to be worthless trash.

A police spokesperson said "A description of offenders and their vehicle varies, suggesting that a team is working the area, but a silver mercedes features quite prominently.

"Police are keen to identify these people, so if you see them, please phone as soon as possible."

Anyone with any information about these incidents should contact the police on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Yet again Cheshire police asking for help,do they ever solve anything?
A few weeks ago a suspicious Mercedes was reported to Cheshire police who neglected to investigate as no wrong had been done.So they didn't bother!
Vandalism to the RBS cash machine and park bench,on the corner of Hayes lane and London road was reported in January. There is a CCTV camera directly above but Cheshire police won't look at footage because the property owners haven't complained, not lets have a look and see if we can stop this mindless behaviour.
Now they are springing into action to sort the parking problems in alderley. How they can do this now I don't understand,Cheshire council have taken the power away from us was always the reply to complaints up until now.
Is the turn on parking to make themselves look worth the council tax rise?Personally I would prefer a refund.
