Fire at De Trafford Arms

DSCN1371

Fire fighters were called to a fire at De Trafford Arms last night.

Fire crews from Macclesfield and Stockton Heath attended the incident at 7.19pm on Sunday, 23rd December.

The fire was in the chimney of the three storey hotel. An aerial appliance was requested to attend as the firefighters were unable to reach the area with chimney rods. Congleton Road was closed while the aerial appliance was at the scene.

Firefighters used one hose reel jet and chimney rods from the aerial platform to put out the fire. A thermal imaging camera was then used to check for further hot spots of fire and to monitor the temperature around the chimney.

Fire crews left the scene at 9.09pm.

the chimney caught fire, not exactly a proportional response a bit of salt on the fire would have sorted it as my old grandmother used to say lol
