School's concert raises over £1,600 for Children in Need

Alderley Edge Methodist Church hosted their annual Schools Concert in aid of Children In Need on Friday, 16th November, which raised £1635 for the charity.

Alderley Edge Community Primary School, Mottram St. Andrew Academy, Alderley Edge School for Girls, The Ryleys Brass Ensemble and Junior Choir and Alderley District Scout Band all took part in the event.

Vicar Rev. Jane Parry and the Methodist Minister, Rev. Ben Clowes, managed to sneak in on the act too, adding an extra fun element at the end of the evening – which was quite different from how you see them on a Sunday morning!!

Judy Povey, church secretary said "It was a wonderful evening filled with singing, instrumental pieces, and soloists, plus the precision and delivery of the prize-winning Scout Band.

"There were biscuits and cakes by the dozen to sell – all made by Lesley, the cook at Mottram St.Andrew, and the church was filled with fun, energy, enthusiasm, and generous giving.

"The final total of £1635 is being sent to Children in Need –absolutely 100% of what was donated. What a fantastic amount to have raised in an hour and a half! Huge thanks to everyone who took part, and to all who came and made the evening such a success."
