Free light timers available from police

11bb0139fd8fa4db6934b3dedd0c75fa

At Wilmslow Police station there are approximately twenty, 24-hour segment timers for local residents of Alderley Edge and Wilmslow to have.

The timers are for households that are left in darkness while they are at work or away. They are designed to be plugged into a main electricy socket, then for a lamp to be plugged into it. The timers can be set to a time for the lamp to be turned on while you are away.

If anyone wishes to have one, please could you phone PCSO Sarah Stanley on 0845 458 6374 and she will deliver them to your door free of charge.

Please bear in mind these will be limited to one per household and as soon as the stock has gone there will be no more. Therefore these will be given out on a first come first served basis.

All very generous but 20 is a bit pointless. And admittedly I might sound negative but can the good folk of Wilmslow and Alderley Edge not afford to buy their own timers, they are not expensive. I paid £3.99 for a basic modeI, went to the shop and bought it myself, did not need the police to do it for me. It's not the job of the police to be delivering timers to people's doors.

I would rather have the money spent on actual feet on the street policing.

Or even extra parking patrols !

I agree with the above comments.
What a complete and total nonsense !
Total waste of time, money, effort and resources !
Haven't they got anything better to do ?
Who the hell created this idea and who the hell authorised it ?

Ps; Whilst the Police are delivering the Timer, could they also collect my Pizza as well, please ?

Totally agree with all the above comments. I suppose that whoever thought up this barmy scheme will report it as a crime reducing initiative and get brownie points for it.

20 houses COME ON!!!!

Could the PCSO involved please come and do some neighbourhood policing in Over Alderley as I have never seen any police here in 20 years.
