Thieves struck yesterday between 10.20 am and 2pm at The Edge Hockey Centre at The Ryleys School playing field on Wilmslow Road.

A semi portable circular pop-up red and white ‘No Entry’ sign was taken.

The sign has been their since the artificial grass pitch was opened last October and formed part of a one way traffic control arrangement designed to protect young children visiting the site to play sport.

Alderley Edge Hockey Club Hon. Secretary Kelvin Briggs was very frustrated by the theft.

"We work very hard at the site to create a safe environment for local children and families coming to play sport. For someone to steal the warning sign and compromise peoples safety is such a selfish act. I guess we will have to concrete in a new one as soon as possible."

If anyone sees a sign similar to the one in the picture appear locally, the club would be very pleased if you could contact the local police quoting crime incident number 812 and the date 08/09/12.
