Sheep worth approximately £2000 have been stolen from a field in Alderley Edge.
The forty-one animals were taken some time between Wednesday 8th August and Friday 12th August from a field near Congleton Road.
All the sheep were tagged with green and yellow and all their tags run in sequence.
The offenders must have had a van to transport the sheep.
Anyone with information should contact the police on 101, alternatively information can also be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Updated: Tuesday 14th August.
The police now understand that the sheep were not actually stolen but seized by the RSPCA because the owner is banned from keeping animals.
They received an initial report from the partner of the owner saying the sheep had been stolen, but the police now understand that they were legitimately taken.
