Alderley Edge Parish Council has formed a Festival Hall Management Committee to oversee the work of Hall Manager Ashley Comiskey-Dawson and the work needed to improve facilities at the building.
The intention is for the committee, which held their first meeting recently, to meet at least once a month and they are now inviting companies who are interested in designing and managing this project to take part in the selection process.
Cllr Mike Williamson said "The Alderley Edge Parish Council was delighted with the success of the recent public consultation on the proposed new Medical Centre which is to be built on part of the Festival Hall site. That consultation, organised by the East Cheshire Primary Care Trust and the doctors from the George Street Practice gave residents a first glimpse of this exciting project, which will bring so much benefit to the residents of the village.
"As the Medical Centre project becomes a reality, the Parish Council has an opportunity to refurbish and upgrade the main Hall. The aim is to provide a modern, flexible venue for use by residents; in addition to community use, the improved Hall will be available to a wider market, on a commercial basis, to reduce the burden on local tax-payers.
"The Parish Council would like to invite interested parties to participate in a selection process leading to a Design and Project Management Contract for this proposed refurbishment."
The project will include the design of a new entrance to the Festival Hall, to the side of the existing building, along with new toilets, a reception area and bar. Additionally the interior of the main Hall will be refurbished, to include a re-design of the stage and bar area with provision for a new or modernised kitchen.
In the first instance, interested parties should write to the Parish Council, outlining their experience of similar projects and an outline of basic costs. The Council will select a short list and provide details such as proposed budget, project concept etc. The Final selection process will include a presentation, by candidates, to community representatives including the Parish Council, leading to a contract to design and manage the project.
